The Canberra Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Pialligo Estate join forces to co-present Music in the Fields, a new concert experience in the picturesque Pialligo Fields pavilion. Guests will enjoy a seasonal menu showcasing Estate-grown ingredients, before sitting down to an intimate CSO Chamber Ensemble performance.
Curated by CSO violinist Pip Thompson, the winter-themed musical program includes selections from Tchaikovsky’s exquisite String Quartet No. 1 and Arvo Pärt’s expansive Fratres. Music in the Fields offers first-time concertgoers and classical aficionados alike the opportunity to appreciate the artistry of chamber music up close, in a relaxed and personal setting.
‘This program will take the audience on an emotional and sensory journey,’ Thompson said, ‘from crisp, snowy climes to the cosy warmth of a winter fireside. It features well-known classics, with a few surprises in the mix.’
In keeping with the winter theme, Pialligo Estate will treat guests to mulled wine, canapes and a selection of choice charcuterie from its award-winning Pialligo Smokehouse, followed by a traditional Spanish paella.
‘We’re honoured to welcome CSO musicians and lovers of classical music to our intimate Fields venue,’ said Bianca Board, Marketing Manager at Pialligo Estate. ‘We feel the elegance and tranquility of the Estate are quite synonymous with the concert hall experience.’
